Know your open water swimming strategy before race day. If you’re going to ease into a faster pace, you need less pre-swim warm up. If you expect to race full out at the sound of the horn, you need more time to warm up and more intensity. Get your heart rate up before the swim. Do some or all of the following: arm swings, jumps up and down, jog sprints, stretch cord pulls, and a few min’s of swim sprints and swim for form. Then get to start line and breathe.
